Description
Come help us build the landscapes that make Michigan a beautiful place to live and work! We are offering full-time, direct employment. We pay union wages, and union benefits. Our firm takes good care of our workers. Many of them have been with us over 20 years. Each year our teams plant thousands of trees and establish acres of plantings. Our clients tend to be big companies, universities, new hospitals, and city governments. This is outdoor manual labor. We start early in the morning and tend to work 50-55 hours a week 6 days a week. The landscape construction season begins as soon as the ground thaws and continues until the ground is too frozen to work. We also keep busy in the Winter clearing snow from miles of sidewalks and parking lots. The Winter hours you work all depends on the snowfall and weather. Some years, our workers have been just as busy in January and February as during the Summer. The advertised rate describes the low end, and high end, of the union scale we pay. The $18.57/hr is the rate for a basic laborer. The $29.57 rate is for experienced brick-paver installers. Between these two rates there is a middle rate for power equipment operators and CDL-A drivers. The advertised rate includes vacation pay and a $1000 signing bonus that is averaged out over the first 90 days. When you qualify for health care according to the union rules, additional compensation is paid by us to cover your health care benefit. In the Winter, when doing snow removal, you will be paid an additional $2/hr. At a minimum you need: 1. To be healthy enough to work outdoors Summers and Winters 2. To be able to perform manual labor a full day 3. To lift moderately heavy items less than 30 lbs 4. To have reliable transportation to reach construction sites in the Metro Area 5. To pass a drug test within 3 weeks 6. To interview with us in person at our office near Detroit Metro Airport. Common Questions and Answers: 1. What if I don't live in Detroit? You need to be within commuting range of where we have projects to work for us. Each year we have projects in Ann Arbor, and the Northern/Southern Detroit suburbs. 2. What if I am part of a team? If we hire you and your friend/relative, we will assign you to the same team. 3. Do I have to commute to Romulus each day? You will be assigned to a construction site nearest to your home and report to work at that site each day. 4. Will I have to work Sunday? It is very rare for us to work a Sunday in the Summer. In the Winter it depends on if there was a very large snowfall and when clients need to have their parking lots cleared. 5. Do I have to work in the Winter? We encourage workers to work the Winter months. However, we understand it is not for everyone. ************* Please provide your phone number to call you. Also please detail any outdoor work you have experience with.
