The Greater Chicago Soap Box Derby Association will be conducting an official All American Soap Box Derby Rally Race. Race dates are Sept. 11 & 12 and Oct. 9 & 10. Race will be in Naperville on Frontenac Road at Diehl Road. Racers will be competing in gravity powered soap box derby cars against each other in 3 separate divisions:
Stock ages 7 - 13, Superstock ages 9 - 18, and Masters ages 10-20
Racers can bring their own soap box derby car or borrow an official car at no charge. Racers who are interested can attend a STEM and soap box derby clinic where they will learn the basic principles of derby racing and be fitted to a car. Help with construction, race day setup, rules and details on how to succeed at soap box derby racing are provided to new racers to get you up to speed. Clinics are 60 - 90 minutes long and are scheduled at various times during the week leading up to the race, contact us to schedule your time.
There is an entrance fee of $10 - $20 each day for first time racers. There will be 2 races held each day starting with a double elimination race followed by a single elimination race.
Racing will start approximately at 9am and registration is at 7:30am each day. 1st - 8th place medals will be awarded.
Boys and girls who are accompanied by a parent or guardian can stop by during between 10am and 2pm and take a free test run down the track.
There is no charge for spectators.
