About this position SeeScan is seeking out a talented, motivated, and experienced individual to join our team as a Senior RF Analog Engineer. In this position, you will play a key role in the design and verification of electrical systems that power our market-leading pipe inspection and utility locating equipment. Skills and experience Our ideal candidate is conversant and able to develop products using the following skills: • Low level, low noise, low frequency (10Hz – 1MHz) signals Multi-channel magnetic field receiving antennas (magnetic loop). E field shielding and balance techniques Characteristics of magnetic fields Low noise wide dynamic range amplifiers for this frequency range Effective shielding techniques; near DC (sensors) to several GHz • Hi power signal generation in the 1Hz -1MHz region; and at 13.56MHz Class A, B, C, D, E and Hi-Q resonant stages from 10mW to 30W over a wide range of load impedances Switching (buck, boost, Sepic, Flyback) power supplies that are efficient and generate very low noise Sonde design techniques Protection against “hot line” (when our transmitters accidentally get connected to the AC mains) FCC part 15, and “RED” requirements FCC Human exposure limits • Datacom Familiarity with ASK, BPSK, FSK, QPSK, QAM (circular and square), OFDM and when to apply them in our application Bandwidth required for each type of modulation Design of lo-pass, hi-pass, band-pass filters in the 10Hz to 5GHz range. Multiple pole, multiple types Analog and digital filters and when to apply each Error detection and correction techniques • RF design GNSS: frequencies, antenna design, polarization, phase center, pattern optimization. LNA and filter design for the various GNSS services. Protection against self noise. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, BLE antenna design – 2 and 5 GHz Impedance matching techniques Characteristics of transmission lines • Circuit Design Effective (low cost, low power, high performance, compact) analog circuit design Familiar with Spice modelling. (LTSpice, PSpice etc) Familiar with Matlab modelling.
