One of Maine's best loved songstresses is joined by the all-female Amarantos String Quartet. Portland, Maine based singer/songwriter, Sara Hallie Richardson, performs and writes music in the folk, indie, and electronic idiom. With influences such as Joni Mitchell, Kate Bush, and Bjork, Richardson's songs are known for dense vocal harmonies and soaring melodies as well as combining synthetic and acoustic orchestral sounds. Sara has joined many other performers, including the Portland Symphony Orchestra and the Fogcutters, one of the state's most popular Big Bands and Micromasses (who performed at Bates in September). Sara is known in the Southern Maine music community for her kindness, compassion and warmth; she is equally recognized for her musical ability, powerful vocal range and clever song writing. Please read below for more information: Per Bates Guidelines: College-sponsored indoor performances are open to masked Bates students, faculty, and staff with a valid Bates ID. Non-Bates guests may also attend, but must show proof of being fully vaccinated at the door (digital image or hard copy of vaccine card, indicating final vaccination completed at least 14 days prior) in order to access the venue and must remain masked at all times while inside. Children who are not vaccinated will not be permitted to enter any building. Guests unable to provide proof of being fully vaccinated will not be permitted to enter the venue. All guests (including students, staff and faculty) will be required to pre-reserve a ticket on Eventbrite. Once you are checked in at the Box Office, you can display your proof of vaccination, then you will be admitted. We will also continue to stream concerts.
