Description
Free and Fun Life-skills class for our NeuroDiverse Community Members
Come join us for a free and fun life-skills class focusing on the challenges of food shopping, nutrition, and cooking. Our goal is to help you, or your loved one, build confidence and independence in difficult everyday life-skills. We do this through the loving and nurturing environment of a shopping and cooking class.
We will begin the program with getting familiar with the grocery store: reading signs, walking the aisles, and looking at the different types of products on the shelves. Second each participant will help "shop" for an assigned item. Third, we will make a quick snack out of the shopped items. Fourth, the class will have the opportunity to eat the constructed snack. Ex; Apple rings with nut butter.
We are very happy to adapt this program to the need of each individual. We use verbal and visual instructions to help provide guidance throughout the program. If you, or your loved one, needs visual, auditory, or physical assistance to complete this program, please let us know.
Our class will meet once a month at the Fredericksburg Food Co-op. Times may change from month to month based on the needs of the Co-Op and the participants.
Due to space and social distancing requirements, each participant may bring one caregiver. If you will need to bring additional caregivers or family members please reach out to [email protected].
