Immerse in history: join these special interconnected tours focused the glorious landscapes, gardens, and art of the Hudson Valley. Immerse yourself in history! Our Hudson Valley region is aglow in the fall: visit the Ten Broeck Mansion and it's 4 acres of gardens, plus the Albany Institute of History & Art at the peak of the autumnal season. Start your Immersion Tour with a tour of both the grounds and interior of the 1798 Ten Broeck Mansion, a rare survival of an 18th c. mansion in relationship to its landscape. Learn how the estate, named Prospect, was designed to reflect 18th c. landscape ideals, and how its rooftop viewing deck inspired the early patrons of the Hudson River School of Art. Continue with a self-guided tour of the AIHA to view the renowned landscape galleries with a new perspective. The AIHA holds some of the finest examples of Hudson River School paintings, including several with a close connection to noted Albany families such as the Van Rensselaers. Start your Immersion Tour at the Ten Broeck Mansion at 1 pm, and continue to the AIHA around 2:30 for an exclusive self-guided tour highlighting perspectives on the American Landscape Prospects & Perspectives Immersion Tour: Start at 1 pm: Ten Broeck Mansion for guided tour (until 2:00 pm)We suggest you reserve an additional 15-20 minutes to explore the 4 acre historic landscape and gardens. Additional self-guided tours about pollinators, trees, and indigenous plants available. Visit the Albany Institute of History and Art - reserve at least an hour to 90 minutes for your visit - all galleries are open with this ticket. The AIHA closes at 5 pm. Tickets are honored for the same day only.Important tour information: all visitors will be expected to comply with site regulations for COVID-19 including wearing masks and practicing social distancing.please note: historic sites have uneven walkways and historic staircases: walking shoes recommended.children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.please ensure you leave enough time to travel between sites (about 10 minutes driving). Tours start promptly.tours are held rain or shine.parking: the Ten Broeck Mansion has ample free parking in an off-street lot off of Livingston Avenue. The AIHA has a free lot on Dove Street (intersection of Washington Avenue and Dove Street).
