Please join AIER’s Bastiat program in Wichita and The Institute for the Study of Economic Growth at WSU for a talk with Dr. James Broughel, Senior Research Fellow at the Mercatus Center at George Mason University Recent technological advances are allowing for better measurement of regulation and its effects. Dr. James Broughel will discuss why the amount of regulation in a state matters for its residents’ quality of life, how the regulatory environment in Kansas compares to other states, and options available for policymakers who want improved economic growth and more economic freedom. James received his PhD in economics from George Mason University and his BA and MA in economics from Hunter College of the City University of New York He specializes in regulatory institutions, cost-benefit analysis, and the impact of regulations on economic growth. His writings have appeared in popular outlets such as the Wall Street Journal, the Los Angeles Times, and the Washington Post. He is also a columnist at Forbes and a regular contributor for The Hill.
