Description

Tour a manufacturing facility during October to see how the products you use every day are made. Black Mesa Winery & Cidery is proud to use only New Mexico-grown grapes for their wines, working with the greatest diversity of grape sources of any winery in the state. Some of their proprietary growers' vineyards produce only a few tons of fruit per year. Black Mesa's partnerships are with more than a dozen vineyards statewide, from the most northerly commercial vineyard in Abiquiu, New Mexico, to the "boot heel" in Deming. All grapes are brought to the winery where they begin the long process from grape to bottle. And don't forget the hard cider! Bite Me hard cider is made at Black Mesa Winery, using 100% northern New Mexico apples, bringing New Mexico's 400-year-old traditions of apple cultivation and wine production to fruition. High elevation fruit (5,800 feet) provides the perfect juice to create world-class cider of this style. the Black Mesa is the only cidery in New Mexico that uses only 100% NM apples. A 30-minute tour followed by a 30-minute tasting will take place on October 28 at 4:00 pm. Visitors will walk through the winery/cidery production and barrel storage areas, finishing in the vineyard and then the tasting room, where there will be several wine and cider tastings -- all wines and ciders made at the winery from 100% New Mexico grapes. Comfortable shoes are advisable, as walking surfaces are uneven. Minimum allowable age for tour is 12, and for wine/cider-tasting it's 21 (must have photo ID!) Location tip: Once you're on Hwy 68, look for Mile Marker 15 . Take a tour of Black Mesa Winery and get a behind-the-scenes look and taste of their facility!
