Hi :) my name is Dave. I'm 54.. and I've been playing guitar since I started getting lessons at age 8. I started with very traditional theory based learning methods. I learned many 'rules' and methods to emulate. This served me well in a live rock and roll original band setting in NYC. Fast forward a bunch of years.. I turned to a much more acoustic based sound, playing solo.. at this point I found myself composing and improvising much more on the spot.. Thru many years of knowing what works, what doesn't.. and what is actually being an individual musician rather then someone who just copies rather then creates. You can play someone else's song, and bring your own musicality to it or you can just be an imitation. My simple method involves simple guidelines in finding the 'key' and the roots.. then knowing 'shapes' that will transfer around the neck. This will allow you to sit in with other musicians just 'jamming'.. even if they are playing something you never heard, you will be able to follow along. You also will be able to seamlessly play 'inside' of chords to then develop melodic progressions. I enjoy playing and helping others so I am offering a crazy low price of $20 per hour.
