Havdalah is a multisensory experience that includes fire, spices and wine. Havdalah is Hebrew for “separation” and refers to the verbal declaration made at the end of Shabbat or a Jewish holiday, in which the holy day is separated from the mundane period that follows. New Jewish Happy Hour Rocks Downtown SF SoMa Shul monthly schmooze in a Jewish desert!   San Francisco -- Chabad SF’s latest innovation is the SoMa Shul, sponsoring Shabbat Happy Hour. Featuring Open Bar, live music, a Blue Angel Vodka Bar and of course challah. The event draws downtown San Francisco Young Jewish Professionals who have few venues for traditional Jewish observance in the local vicinity. “We’ll have an open bar, and delicious hors d'oeuvres for you to enjoy,” says Rabbi Shmulik Friedman who moved to San Francisco to open the new SoMa Shul. “Stick around if you’d like for a shabbos prayer, or just come by to meet others in the tribe for a drink before the weekend begins.”
