2nd Annual Chimera Christmas Caravan of Lights led by Santa and Mrs. Claus in their Elf-driven convertible and the Angel Fire Department. CHIMERA CHRISTMAS CARAVAN on Olivia ParkwayFriends of Chimera, Tuscany volunteer residents are hosting the second annual Christmas Caravan on Saturday, December 11th at 5:00 PM. Illumination is required, so light up your ride, yourself, and your pet!Best themed entrants win gift certificates1st $752nd $503rd $25Caravan entry registrations are required. Formation begins at 4:30 on Olivia Parkway with assigned numbers proceeding in event order. Please see the map. The 2.5 mile Olivia Parkway loop is completed counterclockwise. Special pedestrian and bicycle entries will be merged into the processional along the route. Neighborhood traffic will continue as usual using the passing lane for safety. Vehicles that aren't registered should use the passing lane and avoid getting into the right lane with the Caravan. Prizes are awarded for the best-lighted caravan vehicles! Reservations are recommended for Slice 19 this evening. Christmas Caravan FAQQ: Why is there a registration fee? A: Santa and the Angel Fire Department receive an honorarium fee. Prizes are covered in our expenses.Q: Do I have to decorate my vehicle with lights? A: Absolutely, as a participant in the Caravan of Lights we require your vehicle to be illuminated. Prizes are awarded for the best illumination. Q: Can pedestrians with pets be in the Caravan?A: Yes. There will be a designated staging area for the pedestrians with pets to merge into the Caravan. Please light up your pet and wear reflective clothing. There are special pedestrian ticket options. Q: Can bicyclists be in the Caravan?Q: Yes. There is a special ticket option for bicycles. Light up your bike and wear reflective clothing. An illuminated headlight and red rear reflector are required by Nevada law for night biking. Q. What pace are we expected to maintain?A: The approximate speed is between 8-10 miles per hour. Entries that wish to perform along the parade route will be given a brief 60-second opportunity for judging at two different "grandstands." The grandstands will be designated beforehand. Q. What spacing are we expected to maintain?A. All caravan entries receive a number in the processional sequence. At the start, volunteers will space out the entries at approximately every twenty-five (25) feet. Please maintain your position in the forming area and the procession. Our volunteer officials will help monitor the spacing. Q. Can we toss candy canes to the spectators?A. Absolutely not. Please understand that throwing or distributing items to the spectators of other caravan participants creates an unsafe distraction. Q: Do I have to decorate my vehicle with lights? A: Absolutely, as a participant in the Caravan of Lights we require your vehicle to be illuminated. Prizes are awarded for the best illumination. Q: How do I see event photos and share mine?
