5 Sent To Hospital From Kingston Elementary After Feeling Dizzy

KINGSTON, MA — Multiple Plymouth County emergency crew systems have been sent to Kingston Elementary School after receiving reports of multiple people feeling ill Thursday morning. At least 10 people complained of dizziness but only five were hospitalized, said Kingston Deputy Fire Chief Adam Hatch. A boiler had just been activated in an older part of the building and it was said to be hot inside, Hatch said. The Kingston Fire Department was called to Kingston Elementary School around 12 p.m. after some staff and students reported feeling dizzy. Emergency crews from surrounding towns also came in to help and joining Kingston police to evacuate the school while firefighters evaluated the condition of the building and a few members of staff and students. Reports of multiple Ambulance strike units were called for what Plymouth County Fire called a Level 1 MCI -an incident that will require local resources and responding agencies. The Level 1 MCI was called off by Plymouth Fire Department just after 1 p.m. ING GRP- Kingston Fire Reports Level 1 MCI at 150 Main St has been terminated. All M/A Ambulance and Engine have been released. M/A Ch. 2 released.— Plymouth County Ctrl (@plyctyctrl) October 7, 2021 The Kingston Fire Department issued an alert to parents saying: "This morning the Kingston Fire Department was called to KES because we received reports from some staff and students that they felt dizzy. We evacuated the school while the KFD evaluated the condition of the building and a few staff and students. The students are being cooperative and amazing as we wait for a final determination from the KFD. Once we receive clearance we will be able to return to the building. We will send another communication out as soon as we have a determination from the KFD." Testing showed no presence of carbon monoxide in the school and the cause of the illness at this time is still unknown. Students and staff were evacuated as a precaution but everyone has since been let back into the building. No further information has been released.
