By Sam Bojarski, The Haitian Times October 7, 2021 City council Democratic primary candidates treated the June 22 election as the decisive contest, in some cases celebrating their anticipated victories as results came in. Despite running in a largely Democratic district, council candidates like Constantin Jean-Pierre have not given up. A Republican candidate in District 40, Jean-Pierre said he has personally campaigned door-to-door, in advance of the Nov. 2 general election. District 40 encompasses parts of Flatbush, East Flatbush, Midwood and Crown Heights. "I'm talking to a lot of people, and they are slowly but surely starting to be more receptive," said Jean-Pierre, 49. "I'm pro small business [and] trying to help those guys stay afloat."
