MILFORD, MA — Milford's new annual cold weather homeless shelter is seeking volunteers for the upcoming winter.
The local shelter, Pathway to a Better Life, opened before winter in 2019. The shelter typically operates during overnight hours when temperatures drop below 20 degrees.
At the beginning of last winter, the shelter was having a difficult time signing up volunteers for late-night work during the pandemic. The shelter needs about four people per night, according to organizer Lisa Trusas.
On Oct. 16, the shelter will host a volunteer event at St. Mary's Church, 17 Winter St., from 1 to 2:30 p.m. The shelter is looking for volunteers for shifts ranging from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. and 2 a.m. to 7 a.m. — or volunteers who are willing to stay for the entire night.
