Here are the top stories today in Madison: With a return back to campus, students with disabilities at the University of Wisconsin-Madison are struggling to make the adjustment with accommodations disappearing. Students feel that the university is not providing adequate flexibility, transportation or online options to students with disabilities or are immunocompromised. (The Cap Times)A St. Louis-based development company, Subtext Development, is proposing to demolish eight apartment buildings on West Johnson and North Bassett. The demolition of these student rentals would make room for the company's high-density, 12-story housing plan. The housing would be geared toward students and young professionals and no below-market-rate housing units. (Wisconsin State Journal) The Madison Common Council voted 14-6 to buy a temporary men's shelter near East Towne Mall. The City will continue to search for a permanent location. (Channel3000)There are rumors that Madison Police Chief Shon Barnes is leaving after seven months. Barnes has denied that he accepted a position with the nonprofit police research organization PERF and that, though his family still lives in Illinois, he is committed to Madison. (Isthmus)The Bubbler, a part of Madison's Central Public Library, is holding the exhibit "Crowns of Chaos" through fall.
