Description
NEW HAVEN, CT — Wednesday night police got a Shotspotter alert about gunfire on Congress Avenue, between West and Redfield streets. When police got there, a woman told them "that her son was struck by the gunfire and was driving himself" to Yale New Haven Hospital, according to police spokesperson Officer Scott Shumway.
New Haven police officers and detectives met with the victim, who was being treated for non-life-threatening injuries, Shumway said. A crime scene was located, he said, and Congress Avenue was closed while the Bureau of Identification processed it, and was later re-opened.
Police ask that any witnesses who have not yet spoken with the Police contact the New Haven Police Department Investigative Services Division at 203-946-6304. Callers may remain anonymous or submit tips anonymously by calling 1-866-888-TIPS(8477), or text "NHPD plus your message" to 274637 (CRIMES).
