GREENBELT, MD — Police said a Bowie pedestrian died Saturday on Interstate 495, also known as the Capital Beltway. Officers identified the victim as 39-year-old Jamarr Rahman Shareef.
Authorities noted that they heard word of the crash around 12:15 a.m. Responding troopers added that they found the unresponsive man lying on the right shoulder of southbound I-495 at the Baltimore-Washington Parkway in Greenbelt.
Medics pronounced the victim dead on the scene, an incident report explained. Investigators don't know what he was doing on the road.
The press release clarified that the striking vehicle, a white Nissan NV van, stayed at the site of the collision. Impaired and distracted driving were not factors in the accident, the Maryland State Police mentioned.
Troopers wrote that they are still investigating.
