Position Overview The Electrical Engineering Designer II will apply their professional and technical expertise to designing electrical engineering concepts and options that align with the owner's vision for each project. This individual should have a solid understanding of the consulting engineering process and the contractual documents which are involved. Responsibilities include but not limited to Determine the scope of assigned projects and utilize software programs to create the electrical system designs including lighting, power distribution, emergency generation systems, fire alarm, security, or other electrical systems.Determine cost-effective system layouts, quantities/sizes, and specifications, and verify code compliance of the system designs.Preparation and layout of CAD drawings and coordination with all other disciplines at all phases of project production, including schematic design phase, design development phase, permitting phase, and construction documents phase.Perform construction administration tasks including, but not limited to, site observations, shop drawing review, and preparation of punch lists.Define appropriate project scope and ensure it is accurately reflected in the contract documents. Proactively manage any possible scope of work variances to ensure client satisfaction and that projects stay on track.Maintain excellent business relationships and communication with clients, partners, architects, owners, other design and construction professionals, and various code officials regarding the overall engineering project, associated assignments, and action items.Support with mentoring more inexperienced electrical designers.Miscellaneous duties, as assigned.Minimum QualificationsCandidates must be based in the Dallas Fort-Worth Texas Area and authorized to work in the United StatesBachelor's Degree in Electrical EngineeringAt least 5 years of experience in electrical engineering design and management in an architect/engineer or consulting engineer environmentLicensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Texas, or Engineer in Training (EIT), preferredAt least 2 years of experience leading and coordinating multi-discipline engineering teamsExperience with a variety of project deliverable methods including design-build, design-bid-construct, fast-track and other construction delivery methodsKnowledge of local, state, and national codes, including other aspects of laws, regulations, and potential liabilities affecting the practice of engineeringExcellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills; ability to clearly convey information, ideas, and concepts verbally, written, or in graphic formAbility to prepare original specifications for project systems and components, as well as complete project manuals with sub-consultant specifications when the company serves as the prime professionalHighly proficient technical/computer skills including Microsoft O365 (Outlook, Work, Excel), internet and web applicationsRequired proficiency with engineering software programs, specifically RevitMust have the technical knowledge and hands-on experience to effectively evaluate various electrical engineering options for configuration of equipment and componentsExperienced with cost containment and reduction approachesSkills and CompetenciesUses resources efficiently, strives to reduce costStrong conflict management abilities – a good listener, committed to finding solution to problems, works to address difficultiesComfortable maintaining professional relationships with clients, vendors, code officials, etc. Works well with internal and external teams, promotes a positive image of the company, strives to solve issues raised by customersMeets deadlines, works independently or as part of a team, accountable, maintains focus on set objectives and goalsExcellent attention to detail and thoroughness in deliverables and communications, maintains high-quality standards, and good follow-up skillsEthical, honest, and accountable; maintains confidentiality, handles sensitive information with discretion and professionalismHas a bias for action, seeks new opportunities, strives to see projects to completionKeeps information organized and accessible, maintains efficient work space, manages time wellMonitors status of projects, thoroughly deals with project details, holds project owners accountable, delivers clear, accurate depiction of statusLooks for opportunities to increase knowledge, works to increase responsibility, strives to achieve personal goalsAbility to work effectively in a group or team environment as well as independently; values input and opinions of others
