Description
WALNUT CREEK, CA — A woman was robbed at gunpoint in downtown Walnut Creek Monday night. She was not seriously hurt. Five juveniles have been arrested in Berkeley in connection with the robbery.
A woman was walking downtown at around 10 p.m. Monday when five suspects got out of a car and ran up behind her. "One suspect brandished a handgun," police said in a release, "while other suspects pulled her to the ground by her hair and stole her purse. The woman was not seriously injured during the robbery."
The robbery happened in the 1400 block of North Main Street. The suspects then fled in the car, which had been stolen during a carjacking earlier that day in Oakland.
On Tuesday, Berkeley Police located the stolen vehicle. The suspects fled when Berkeley officers tried to stop the vehicle. The pursuit ended when the suspects crashed, and ultimately five juveniles ranging in age from 11 to 15 were arrested.
Some of the property stolen from the woman in Walnut Creek was recovered during the arrest of the juveniles.
Walnut Creek detectives continue to investigate this case, along with Berkeley's and Oakland's police departments.
