MEDIA, PA — A 27-year-old man from Sharon Hill was arrested in connection with a murder that happened Monday at a SEPTA trolley stop, officials say.
Nicholas A. Hoyle was taken into custody Wednesday, according to a news release from Delaware County District Attorney Jack Sollsteimer. He is a suspect in the shooting death of Dwayne Williams, 54.
A Collingdale Police Department officer found Williams lying inside the trolley stop at Woodlawn Avenue and McDade Boulevard on Monday morning. Williams, who had a gunshot wound in his chest, was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders.
Hoyle was identified as a suspect based on camera footage and a transaction he may have made at a nearby convenience store, Sollsteimer's office said.
A Sharon Hill police detective and a Collingdale police officer stopped Hoyle on Wednesday while they were on patrol in Sharon Hill. Hoyle had a firearm in his waistband, according to Sollsteimer's office.
Hoyle has a prior conviction for robbery and is ineligible to possess a firearm, the news release said.
Hoyle was denied bail and is incarcerated at George W. Hill Correctional Facility. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 22.
