CLEVELAND — Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield is playing through a significant injury.
According to ESPN, Mayfield suffered a partially torn labrum in his left shoulder in mid-September. News of the injury emerged after the quarterback had his worst game of the season against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, completing fewer than 50 percent of his passes.
Mayfield is a right-handed quarterback, so the injury is in his non-throwing arm.

Mayfield has worn a shoulder harness in the past two games, according to CBS. The Browns won both of those games, though they came against the Chicago Bears and Minnesota Vikings.
It's unclear how the injury and Mayfield's sluggish start to the season could impact contract extension talks with the Browns.
The Browns are currently 3-1, their lone loss coming in a tough game against the defending AFC champion Kansas City Chiefs. Cleveland will have another stiff test on Sunday when they play the 3-1 Los Angeles Charges in L.A.
