Looking to rehome our black lab due to traveling a lot out of state to care for father who has cancer, working a lot & our daughters sports activities. He just doesn't get enough attention with us gone all the time. He is a trained hunting dog & is not gun shy & loves to be outside but my husband doesnt hunt. He Loves kids (sleeps with our daughter every night) house broken, on a schedule, Loves to go on walks, Stays inside most of the time but loves being outdoors. He doesnt tear things up but her carries socks and stuffed animals all over the house as he was trained with them so he would be gentle with the birds when retrieving them. When he is outside he does track our yard but doesnt tear it up or dig.However with that said he will track and kill birds, rabbits, squirrels, opossums, and ducks if they are in the yard. He does well with other bigger dogs and has been around cats. Not sure he would do well with small dogs as he might think their a rabbit or opossum. Also he doesnt bark unless its to alert when tracking & for some odd reason he barks at the ups/fedex guy but not sure why & at people running it night if he sees them out the window.
