Last Friday three gang members opened fire on a single-family home in broad daylight, trying to draw out members of an opposing gang that was inside. The rival gang returned fire, killing one of the men outside. All five remaining shooters were arrested. There's plenty of evidence to prosecute the crime: More than 70 rounds of shells were found on the scene Police witnessed part of the shooting A city camera captured the entire shooting Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot, a woman who has been negligent to Chicago's crime problems herself, even spoke out against Foxx: "She's got to explain to the public, why?... If the bad guys that are out there that are picking up guns and shooting without any regard for the sanctity of life, do not believe that there's accountability for them, the brazenness will not end. It will escalate, it will continue and our communities will not be safe." Numbers: Chicago is seeing its worst year for murders in a quarter-century, with almost 600 killed so far.
