Qi Gong is an ancient form of moving meditation. Qi is commonly translated as energy, but subtle life force is more accurate. Gong means to work or train. Therefore, Qi Gong is simply translated as Energy Work, but the idea is better understood as a way in which one can train, purify, and strengthen their vital life's force. Qi Gong was passed down from ancient Taoist practices designed to help one live in harmony within themselves and with the world around them. The movements incorporate gentle stretching, breath work, and mental focus. The practice of Qi Gong can improve balance, circulation, cognition, compassion, and an overall sense of wellbeing. Roberto Masferrer is the owner of Kumo Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. He graduated from the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine in 2010 and practiced in Portland for three years before finding an opportunity to move to Walla Walla. Roberto was introduced to Oriental Medicine by way of his martial arts practice which he has been devoted to since he was 10 yrs old. He believes that his role as a healer is to be a guide and to help those who are lost or stuck in their lives due to pain or disease with compassion and the wisdom of Oriental Medicine. He is passionate about empowering others to heal themselves and that is why he loves to teach Qi Gong. Explore the habits that help people live longer, better with Blue Zones Project.
