DCAS October Blood Drive The New York Blood Center (NYBC) adheres to all Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines for conducting its blood drives. To adhere to social distances guidelines, walk-ins will only be accepted if conditions permit. For donor safety, the following safety guidelines have been instituted by NYBC for enhanced staff and donor screening: 1. Pre-screen all staff before their shifts and have them wear masks. 2. Donors must wear masks or face coverings. 3. Donors must be 14 days symptom-free if recovered from COVID-19. 4. Donors cannot donate if adhering to a self-quarantine restriction. 5. All donors will have their temperature checked upon entering the donation site. In addition, 1 Centre Street requires that all individuals must continue to wear masks when entering a DCAS-managed building and on elevators, regardless of vaccination status. Employees are eligible to donate on or off work hours and still receive three hours of compensatory time. Employees should consult with their supervisor(s) before scheduling an appointment during work hours.
