Description
This is a FREE 8-hour (2-day) training that provides you with the skills you need to reach out and provide initial support for Veterans. This is a 2-day training class 10-27-21 & 10-28-21. Must attend both days for certification. Time: 9:00am to 1:00pm (both days) Mental health first aid for Veterans, Military Members and their families teaches you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders. This 8-hour training gives you the skills you need to reach and provide initial support to someone who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem and help connect them to appropriate care. • A discussion of military culture and its relevance to the topic of mental health. • A discussion of the specific risk factors faced by many service members and their families such as mental and physical trauma, stress, separation, etc., • How to break down the stigma associated with substance use disorders and mental illnesses like anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and more. • How to reach out to those who suffer in silence, reluctant to seek help • Community resource information and support This class is limited to a maximum of 30 participants and to attend you MUST register. If you feel that you will not be able to make the training class, be sure to cancel or message us as soon as you know that you will not make it, so that others on the wait list may take your spot. * There is off street parking, in the rear of the building * We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides FREE activities for our Nation's Heroes. Our Mission is to provide holistic activities for Veterans/active duty members of the Armed Forces, first responders and their family members as well camaraderie, support and a safe structure. By participating on a regular basis, it has been found that the individuals quality of life is enhanced, relaxation is achieved, reintegration is helped, and for those that may qualify, a mental and physical healing and better quality of living
