A special screening of The Wisdom of Trauma documentary featuring Dr. Gabor Mate hosted at The Joy Room Chicago in Six Corners. FILM SYNOPSIS THE WISDOM OF TRAUMA FEATURING DR. GABOR MATÉ Trauma is the invisible force that shapes our lives. It shapes the way we live, the way we love and the way we make sense of the world. It is the root of our deepest wounds. Dr. Maté gives us a new vision: a trauma-informed society in which parents, teachers, physicians, policy-makers and legal personnel are not concerned with fixing behaviors, making diagnoses, suppressing symptoms and judging, but seeking instead to understand the sources from which troubling behaviors and diseases spring in the wounded human soul. Your hosts Erika Edrada and Michelle Morales will facilitate the screening with an opening and closing circle plus snacks and non-alcoholic refreshments at the Joy Room Chicago. Feel free to bring your own blanket, bottle, or snacks of your choosing. There is a mix of chair and floor pillow seating available in the space. Entry will be by donation with portions supporting the venue and the organization producing the film.
