PORT WASHINGTON, NY — FBI agents on Tuesday raided the New York City headquarters of the Sergeants Benevolent Association police union and the Port Washington home of union chief Ed Mullins, according to ABC7. No arrests were immediately made, an official told ABC News. Further details on the raids have yet to be divulged. New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, who frequently clashes with Mullins, declined to give a reaction when twice asked for comment during his morning briefing. "I don't know the specifics," he said. "I don't know who it's directed at. I want to really hear the details before I comment further." Mullins, among other controversies, faces legal action over offensive Twitter posts in which he called then-congressional candidate Ritchie Torres a "first-class w----" and health commissioner Dr. Oxiris Barbot a "b----" on the Association's official Twitter account. He also tweeted a May 2020 police report about Chiara de Blasio — the mayor's daughter — after she was arrested in the George Floyd protests.
