CLEARWATER, FL — Nearly 2,000 residents got to know their police and firefighters a big better after attending National Night Out Tuesday at Countryside Mall.
Those who attended got to meet police officers from various units as well as other police department personnel and Clearwater Fire & Rescue crews.
School crossing guards gave out more than 300 free bike helmets to children and the K-9 unit, marine unit, mounted patrol, SWAT and emergency response team showed off their equipment and skills.
Also on hand was AirLife, the emergency medical transport helicopter, the Pinellas County's Sheriff's Office and Sunstar Paramedics.
National Night Out is held the first Tuesday in October and is intended to build relationships between law enforcement agencies and the community.
