Danvers Organizations Awarded Mass Humanities Grants

DANVERS, MA — The Danvers Historical Society and Danvers Alarm List, Inc. were two of more than a dozen North Shore organizations awarded up to $15,000 in emergency grant funding through Mass Humanities. The state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities awarded 90 of the grants statewide to local museums, historical societies and historic sites with a budget of $300,000 or less. The grants are designed to replace lost revenue and rebuild audiences as the coronavirus health crisis wanes. "The grants are another significant step in the journey to sustain the humanities at the local level," said Brian Boyles, Executive Director of Mass Humanities. "As we continue to combat COVID-19, these funds will save jobs, build capacity, and allow organizations to develop new programs to serve their communities." For a full list of grantees, click here. "The pandemic presented a great financial burden for many humanities organizations, particularly those already facing disproportionate economic and racial inequities," Boyles said.
