FARMINGDALE, NY — The 10th annual Art in the Park drew in 25 artists from all types of media who displayed their talents on the Farmingdale Village Green in September, the Farmingdale Village Cultural Arts Committee announced in a news release.
Elaine Faith Thompson, a celebrity artist, exhibited her latest painting: George Washington praying for his troops in the chapel of the Capitol. Thompson also had a painting of the famous singer and rock star Elvis Presley. She is known for her paintings of the U.S. Open and PGA 2019 and has been commissioned and recognized by all levels of government, according to the Farmingdale arts committee. She also participated in the 2019 Art in the Park.
"It was Cultural Arts Day at its finest," the committee stated.
Artists participated in a competition to see who had the best work. Gregory Gergante, a graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology and the University of Wisconsin, was the judge. His work includes illustrations, watercolors and life drawings.
Winners were recognized with a ribbon and gift certificates to local restaurants.
