GREENWICH, CT — Election Day on Nov. 2 is fast approaching, and there are a number of key races on the ballot in Greenwich. Patch reached out to candidates for local office to get more information on their campaigns and the issues that are facing the town. Republican Bill Drake, 66, is running for Board of Estimate & Taxation in Greenwich. Occupation: Retired Private Equity Investor Family: Married, father of two adult children Experience: Current member and Board of Estimate & Taxation Family in government: I grew up in Greenwich and attended Greenwich Public Schools. My wife Anne was an English teacher at Greenwich High (now retired). The single biggest issue in town is ______, and I plan to do this about it: Our Town has extraordinary schools, parks, public services and a responsive government which listens to our citizens. Our task is to preserve these special qualities, and while keeping Town government affordable for everyone. Critical differences between me and my opponents: The candidates of both parties seek what's best for Greenwich. For my part, I try to pay particular attention to our government's effect on every citizen, and both the very prosperous and everyone else. Accomplishments: I have a long experience in business including managing operations, strategy, communication, finance, pensions, unions, recruiting, and investing, I have proven experience in Town finance, and having served on the RTM and now the BET for several years. What else would you like voters to know about you? My particular goal is to ensure Greenwich residents have the high-quality schools and government you deserve while maintaining our low and advantageous property tax rate which is an enduring benefit to everyone.
