BOWIE, MD — Bowie police said they found a vehicle wanted in connection with a shooting that happened last Thursday in Washington, D.C. The ensuing investigation led to a pair of gun arrests, authorities added. Officials identified the suspects as Jahmari Harris and Deandre Bowles. Officers noted that they were on routine patrol last Friday around 1:54 p.m. near Piller Lane and Peachwalker Drive when their license plate reader notified them of the wanted vehicle. Police mentioned that they confirmed the vehicle's wanted status and called extra units as multiple people approached the scene. Authorities wrote that they went up to the car and gave commands to the subjects. Harris tried to run away, an incident report stated, but the write-up clarified that officers caught him after a short foot chase. The Bowie Police Department indicated that it found Harris with a loaded Glock 22 .40-caliber handgun with an extended magazine. The other two people near the car were Bowles and a juvenile male, the press release explained. The agency informed that it located a loaded green/black Glock style 9-mm handgun in Bowles' waistband. Detectives shared that they brought all three people in for questioning. Investigators detailed that they later took Harris and Bowles to the Department of Corrections for arrest processing.
