WILLIAMSON COUNTY, TX — The Williamson County Commissioners Court appointed Matthew Lindemann as Precinct 3 Constable this week. The appointment comes two weeks after the sudden death of former constable Kevin Stofle. Lindemann was sworn into office during the Commissioners Court meeting on Tuesday by Judge Billy Ray Stubblefield, who is the presiding judge of the Third Administrative Judicial Region. "I look forward to this job," Lindemann said. "I have worn several badges over my 36 years, and I am proud of them all and will be proud to wear this one. I am excited to be working with the Precinct 3 Constable's staff to continue their work supporting Justice of the Peace (Evelyn) McLean, the Commissioners Court and the residents of Williamson County." He joined the Texas Department of Public Safety in 1990 as a state trooper. When he retired in 2018, he was a lieutenant in the Texas Rangers Division. He most recently served as a sergeant investigator with the Williamson County District Attorney's Office, authorities said. "Matt Lindemann has served the State of Texas very honorably with more than 36 years in law enforcement. He is a highly principled and respected law enforcement officer with extensive experience and training who will provide excellent leadership to the Precinct 3 Constable's Office," said County Judge Bill Gravell. Precinct 3 Commissioner Valerie Covey said Lindemann is known to be a "man of integrity and high ethical standards" as well as a great leader and someone easy to get along with. "Kevin Stofle leaves behind big shoes to fill, but I can think of no one better than Matt Lindemann to continue the good work the Precinct 3 Constable's Office is doing," Covey said. Stofle served as Constable for Precinct 3 for eight years after he was unanimously voted to serve the precinct by the Williamson County Commissioners Court in March 2013. He died suddenly on Sept. 13 from natural causes.
