HOBOKEN, NJ — The Propelify Innovation Festival — an annual technology and entrepreneurial festival held on the Hoboken, N.J. waterfront — has scheduled fireworks Wednesday night. Residents of both sides of the Hudson River have, in recent months, complained of "unscheduled" fireworks that surprised them and scared their kids and pets, particularly a round of fireworks the day after Sept. 11. Manhattan residents were particularly peeved by the September display: READ MORE: Surprise Fireworks After 9/11 Were Not From Hoboken Italian Festival So just to let you know, fireworks are planned for the waterfront starting at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday night, said the organizers of the all-day Propelify Festival. A spokesperson confirmed on Wednesday that the display was still scheduled. The festival kicked off on the Hoboken waterfront Wednesday morning at 9 a.m., showing off businesses with unique ideas, many of them based in New Jersey. It runs through 5 p.m. when there's a "happy hour" preceding the fireworks. In the past, it has drawn as many as 5,000 people over several days, but this year, the organizers — TechUnited:NJ — kept it outdoors and one-day long. And yes, they were checking vaccination cards at the entrance. Read more about the Propelify Innovation Festival 2021 here. Got business news in New Jersey? Email Patch here.
