Press release from the City of Portsmouth:
October 5, 2021
While the fall Indoor Pool schedule allows for many of the usual activities, swim lessons and team rentals will be restricted while COVID-19 vaccines are still not available for children under 12. The Recreation Department is working on the programming details which will be posted to their website when finalized. During the time the Indoor Pool was closed, the Department of Public Works Facilities staff invested a significant number of hours investigating a leak and other elements of the pool infrastructure. In December of 2020, the City, with the concurrence of the Save the Indoor Portsmouth Pool (SIPP) group, agreed to engage an engineering firm to fully evaluate the pool's short- and long-term needs so that investments could be most strategically planned and implemented. Over the past nine months, improvements have been made to the pool filters, controls and chlorination system, as well as a repair that eliminated a significant water leak. These upgrades allow for a pool reopening with improved operations.
