Description
AMHERST, NH — Amherst police and fire and rescue responded to a single-vehicle accident in the area of Thornton Ferry Road on Saturday.
When responders arrived at about 2:20 a.m., they found that a vehicle traveling west had struck a tree and there were two people injured.
A male passenger sustained life-threatening injuries and Amherst fire requested the availability of DHART medical helicopter. The passenger was transported to St Joseph's Hospital in Nashua, and the helicopter was canceled.
Amherst Police Captain Anthony Ciampoli said the vehicle was heavily damaged after leaving the roadway and striking a tree.
The driver identified as Alexis McDonough, 21, of Nashua was cited for prohibited use of a mobile device and operating without a valid license according to Amherst Police. McDonough was not injured in the crash.
Police say the accident remains under investigation, and no updated information on the condition of the passenger was released.
