We are currently seeking a passionate, creative, responsible individual to fill our Fine Gardening Crew Leader position. Candidates must be well seasoned horticulturists, with strong communication skills, who will represent the company in a courteous and professional manner. The Gardening Crew Leader will work with gardening assistant to complete daily tasks. The crew leader will be responsible for the active on-site training of the gardening assistant. This position reports directly to the Estate Care Manager. Please note that this is a full-time seasonal position beginning roughly in March and ending mid-late December. Responsibilities: • Procurement of annuals, perennials and shrubs • Maintenance of established perennial gardens • Hand pruning of shrubs and ornamental trees up to 15’ • Thoughtful design and installation of seasonal container and border plantings • Bed and property cleanups, weeding, edging and mulching • Winter plant care and Holiday Decorating • Clear, concise reporting to account managers Requirements: • Minimum of 2 years fine gardening experience • Working knowledge and ability to identify plant materials • Tree, shrub and corrective pruning skills • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds • Possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record • Willing to learn and obtain industry certifications • Strong work ethic • Willing to work in all weather conditions • Understanding of landscape design and color choices Work Environment: • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Physical Demands: • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to have full range of mobility in upper and lower body; be able to reach overhead; be able to work in various positions, including stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling and squatting for extended periods of time; be able to lift, pull and push materials and equipment to complete assigned job tasks; and be able to frequently lift 50 pounds of weight throughout the assigned workday. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: • This is a seasonal full-time position. Schedule fluctuates Monday through Saturday. Overtime may be required. Commitment to our snow operations would be required. Success factors: • Is positive and always solutions driven. • Is organized in all areas (field operations, crew truck, job sites, etc.).. • Presents himself or herself in a professional manner. • Initiates action when needed. • Requires little to no supervision.
