Guitarist in Belleville illinois looking to either start a rock band or join one. My age is 60...Ive been playing guitar for 40 years now. I have great gear and love to rock out. I dont drink or have any drug problems....im very laid back. No drama here folks !!! Would like to either join a good rock band in metro east illinois area or start a rock band from scratch. I love all kinds of different music but prefer some kind of rock music, either be classic rock, heavy metal, pop rock, or dance rock (80's stuff or hair band rock). That's when real music was made folks. I would prefer to be in an original music band but covers too would be fine if the music moves me? Would be very up to meeting some other musicians too that wanna just hang out and write songs and have fun. I have not been a guitarist in a band for years but i want to be again now...i have a ton of experience most recently as a drummer in rock bands or on a praise and worship team at my former churches. Playing drums is cool but i have since sold all my drum kits and I'm focusing now mainly on playing guitar again. I spend most my time (im early retired) playing guitar in my home just rockin out on whatever thrills me at the moment...i do NOT sit and learn/study cover songs (boring) at this time. I do not consider myself to be a Lead guitarist but could achieve that aspect if I seriously wanted to be one. I am more a rhythm guitarist and i play alot of open chord and power chord riffs. When i started playing guitar I was 20, and heavily into Metallica music, I was in a Metallica cover band when i started my first actual cover band. I'm still kinda a "headbanger" tho i guess...but like I said I love all genres of music because music is my Life !!! I'm open to whatever evolves musically. Let's do something shall we? I'm in no hurry to play shows but would be up for that again of coarse. Have great gear to play with full pa system and complete light show if needed and it comes down to that but it would have to be a serious thing and not a waste of time and energy...lol. I am a serious musician but i do love to play and have FUN. Covid has really killed the music scene in my opinion, but i'm still up in the air with all that stuff. I am not into just recording music and playing rock star either so dont ask about doing anything that is strictly an internet thing. I use alot of older gear but it all rocks and sounds great. I dont like speed metal or thrash or blues or country music, I am a rock guitarist. I Like stuff that is very melodic mid to slow tempo that has a big groove with lots of interesting intros, breaks and fills. I don't sing really myself, but can maybe sing backgrounds. I listen to my sirius xm satellite radio mainly and I'm a channel hopper I get bored listening to the same old stuff easily. I would love to find like minded musicians in my area that arent full of themselves and wanna make it to the Big Times. I also want to get paid reasonable cash if i am playing shows...I do NOT play shows for free. I do NOT currently have a jam space, but I could make one in my Huge Shop Garage if I needed to do that for a band practice situation? I am not looking to drive super far to hook up either, prefer somebody in my local area "close to me in Belleville illinois". Am I a super good player? No, i'm not but i'm pretty good tho I think but I do have Bad Days...lol. Not looking for Pro players but want somebody with good gear and a good sound/tone and Most Of All has a cool attitude and demeanor about themselves please. No drama please, If we schedule jams then you have to show up ready to rock. Personality is more important than skills...anybody can learn to become a better musician given the guidance and time to do so (quoted from Rob Zombie)...
