Description

Cantata Insights is back - October 23 and 24!! Drawing on material from an earlier work for solo violin, Cantata 29 was completed and premiered in the Fall of 1731 during Bach’s time working in Leipzig. In this brilliant work, Bach expands the orchestration and gives the older violin solo to the organ in the opening sinfonia. This is followed by a magnificent opening chorus, dazzling solo arias, and a beautiful chorale to end the work. Bach would later reuse much of the music from the opening chorus for the Dona nobis pacem movement of his monumental B Minor Mass. Don’t miss your chance to learn more about the piece and hear it in its entirety.
