Bike ride is to the Red Hawks v Cardinals football game. 2021 destination is Ball State, Muncie IN. It includes overnight in Economy IN This bike rider migration will be an annual ride event. During an even calendar year this ride is to Miami University in Oxford OH. During an odd calendar year this ride is to Ball State University in Muncie IN. Goal of event is to create a fun bike event and grow interest in the Miami University and Ball State football game while seeing towns and cities approaching the Cardinal Greenway for majority of route. A small portion of rider fees will benefit the Cardinal Greenway organization and the Cope Enviornmental Center (a Centerville IN birding group). Due to the 70 mile route length and the starting time of 2:00 PM in afternoon to encourage student riders, the ride is split over two days of 35 miles each day. The Friday segment begins at BikeWise Oxford bike shop, passes through Richmond IN to catch the Cardinal Greenway to reach Economy IN. The Saturday segment begins in Economy IN after breakfast and will roll out at 10:30 AM and continues along the Cardinal Greenway to Muncie and ends at the Ball State University stadium. Riders may ride at own desired pace. Riders can join at any point along route. Riders should be experienced seasoned riders and prepare for all types of weather. End of ride will be at a designated tailgate party location at stadium grounds. Riders will be encouraged to attend football game. Transportation back to route entry locations between Muncie and Oxford and points in between can be arranged and or be provided by ride event organizer. Riders should be self-sufficient as there will be no ride stops with food or drink nor bathrooms along route other than public businesses and bathroom locations along the Cardinal Greenway. A support vehicle will trail riders and will carry overnite gear, and spare clothing limited to two duffle bags per rider. There will not be a shower facility at overnite stop. A base cost is $20 per rider to help offset cost of support vehicle and over-night accommodations at Economy IN gym. Additional costs will be “elective” and are: Friday night meal, Saturday breakfast, Tailgate party at stadium, game ticket, food at game, return transportation after game for bike, gear and rider. Estimates of elective costs are low at $50/rider.
