Learn how to make perfect mitered wooden picture frames! This is a two-session class! Saturday 8th 9am-1pmSunday 9th 9am-1pmLearn how to make perfect mitered wooden picture frames. This class will teach you how to cut the miters, route the rabbets for the picture insert and how to cut splines to strengthen the mitered corners. You will finish with a 5x7 cherry picture frame that is perfect to hang or give as a gift. This will be a two day course to allow for the drying of the mitered corners. We will use a couple of shop made jigs to cut the miters and the splines and to refine the mitered corners before gluing. This is a beginner level course, but a healthy respect and some previous experience with power tools would be beneficial. Attendees should wear safety glasses and hearing protection, and should wear comfortable workshop appropriate clothing (nothing loose, closed-toed shoes). This class needs a minimum of 4 attendees to run Minimum age for this class is 18. Instructor: Elliot Savtizky Elliot started to get serious about woodworking in 2015, taking several Continuing Education courses at the North Bennet Street School in the North End of Boston, at Homestead Woodworking School, Woodcraft and with many of the fine craftsmen in the area. Elliot has studied with Peter Galbert, making a Windsor Chair, with Al Breed, making a Philadelphia Footstool with Roger Myers on Federal furniture inlay and banding as well as studied courses offered by Tom McLaughlin from Epic Woodworking. Elliot focuses on period furniture, wall cabinets, stools, small tables and boxes. He also does some spindle, bowl and pen turning. Attendees who are not yet vaccinated against COVID-19 are required to wear a mask and social distance. If you are sick or think you may have been exposed recently, please don't come!
