Description
Hello! Thanks for checking out my ad. This is Berkeley, a 4 year old black domestic longhair (with a white patch on her belly). I am planning on going to school on the East Coast next year and have come to the decision that it's in both my and Berkeley's best interest for her to be rehomed. We're looking for a forever home. A bit about Berk: She is a very sweet girl who loves being the center of attention. I think it'd be best if she was the only cat in the home; she has no aggression towards other animals, but she's pretty nonconfrontational and will become withdrawn rather than try to get attention from an owner who's giving attention to another cat. This doesn't seem to be an issue with dogs. She is not spayed and has been an indoor cat for her whole life as far as I'm aware. She also still has her claws, but I've had no issues with her clawing things she shouldn't. She has no current active medical problems that I'm aware of, but she does have a history of feline stomatitis. Feline stomatitis is basically an autoimmune disorder in which the cat becomes allergic to the plaque on their teeth, leading to gum inflammation and possible infection if it's not treated. Treatment consists of either periodic steroid shots + antibiotics OR the removal of the teeth. As she's young and feline stomatitis is chronic, we opted to remove the affected teeth, which were the molars. She still has her canines and front teeth, which so far have not been an issue. Domestic cats don't need their teeth as they are designed for hunting live prey, she is still fully able to eat both wet and dry cat food. I mention this only because her other teeth may become affected as she gets older so I want a new owner to be aware of it. Her stomach is a little sensitive, but she likes and (digestively) tolerates the Special Kitty brand of wet and dry food. She gets carsick! Berkeley is not a traveling kitty, which is a big reason I'm looking to rehome her before moving. She is up to date on her shots, I have all of her pertinent vet records ready to hand over. Berkeley is free to a good home, but she's a very special cat to me and I'd like to bring her to meet you before a final decision is made so you and I both have a feel for if Berk is a good fit. Please text me, I won't respond to phone calls from numbers that I don't recognize (lots of spam recently) and my email isn't great at syncing up with Craigslist. I'll respond within 24 hours to a text. Once again, thanks for checking out my ad and please reach out if Berkeley might be a good fit for your home.
