A day to recognize and celebrate the positive value men bring to the world, their families and communities. International Men’s Day (IMD), recognized on November 19th, is a worldwide event, celebrating the positive value men bring to the world, their families and communities. It’s a time to highlight positive role models and raise awareness of men’s experiences and well-being. This year’s theme is “Better Relations Between Men and Women”. IMD encourages men to teach the boys in their lives the values, character and responsibilities of being a man. Mahatma Gandhi said, “We must become the change we seek.” This is a free event targeting men and young boys of every nationality in our community. The program will include: 1. History of International Men’s Day 2. Recognizing the Challenges of Men 3. Recognizing the Importance of Men’s Health & Wellness Mental Health & Wellness Physical Health & WellnessSocial Health, Wellness & ConnectionSpiritual Health, Wellness & Purpose4. Presentation from our Young Men - "Manhood Quote Challenge" 5. Recognition of the twenty-five (25) nominated “Unsung Male Role Models”, including a special award to the “Distinguished Unsung Male Role Model” in the cities of Highland and San Bernardino. San Bernardino Fatherhood is a 501(c) (3), non-profit, charitable organization that is committed to “Helping children and strengthening families by equipping Dads”. San Bernardino Fatherhood's mission is: “To eliminate fatherlessness in San Bernardino by promoting a culture of father inclusion and responsible fatherhood in our communities. This mission will be accomplished in collaboration with local schools, community partners, faith-based organizations and public and private agencies.” San Bernardino Fatherhood's vision is: “A society where children thrive, families are strong and communities are safe as a result of responsible fathering. Services and Resources offered by San Bernardino Fatherhood includes: Parenting (Fathering) education Domestic Violence Advocacy & Prevention Fathering education Men support groups Child support information and guidiance Child welfafe support Family reunifiction support Mentoring and advocacy Case Management (as needed) "Dad's Club" support in local schools Community outreach, workshop trainings and social service referrals. Organizing/promoting "father-friendly" social activities and commnity events.
