Sudbury To Mark Disability Awareness Month By Offering Pins

SUDBURY, MA — You may see gold, silver and bronze pins popping up around Sudbury this month. It's an effort by the Sudbury Commission on Disability (COD) to mark Disability Awareness Month. The pin is a representation of the disability flag, whose colors match with the medals given to athletes who compete in the Paralympics. The COD purchased the pins and will be handing them out to local officials, and to staff at Lincoln-Sudbury High School and in Sudbury Public Schools (SPS) "The Disability Flag represents all persons with disabilities and the challenges they face in advancing rights for inclusion," the COD said in a news release this week. Former SPS School Committee member Lisa Kouchakdjian said the pins will also be available for purchase at the Sudbury History Center. Proceeds from those sales will go back to the historical society.
