SOMERVILLE, MA — The city will hold two free flu vaccination clinics for residents this month. The clinics will be open by appointment only. Somerville residents ages 3 and up are eligible, with or without health insurance. As a coronavirus safety measure, attendees must make an appointment in advance, so that staff can safely manage the flow of those seeking vaccinations. Somerville's flu clinics offer both the high-dose vaccine for persons 65 and older and the regular shot for those under 65. Details and scheduleBefore you go: Pre-registration at somervillema.gov/flu is required for all flu clinics. Be sure to select "Flu vaccine (influenza)" when scheduling your appointment. If you need assistance or language support in any language to sign up, please call 311 (617-666-3311). For all clinics, face coverings must be worn. Those who have health coverage should bring their insurance cards (including MassHealth and Medicare) with them, but the vaccines are free to all Somerville residents, regardless of insured status. Flu vaccine clinic schedule: Wednesday, October 13 at the East Somerville Community School at 50 Cross St. from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m,Saturday, October 23 at the Somerville Public Library West Branch at 40 College Ave. from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.Other providers: Local pharmacies also offer free flu vaccinations, and residents may also seek flu vaccinations from their medical provider.Additional dates will be added through the fall and winter and posted to somervillema.gov/flu. Health officials say the best time to get a flu vaccine is between late September and early November.
