Good morning, neighbors! It's me again, Molly. Here are some stories to get your day going. Song of the Day: "Dylan Thomas" by Better Oblivion Community Center. First, today's weather: Mostly cloudy. High: 72 Low: 61. Here are the top stories today in Madison: Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway's new proposed operating budget will direct funds toward police, firefighters and housing initiatives. The $358.6 million budget includes federal funds that aim to stimulate the economy and move back toward pre-pandemic levels. Rhodes-Conway also proposed that over $1 million go toward absorbing the town of Madison and ensuring outreach into this more diverse community. (Wisconsin State Journal)The arts are bouncing back! I'm sure during quarantine, everyone heard something along the lines of "insert famous author" wrote "insert literary masterpiece" during "insert disease outbreak." And in Madison, many creatives have used this time to channel their energy into art. (Badger Herald)Harvey House, 644 W. Washington, opened this July with the goal of reinventing or elevating classic Wisconsin supper clubs. Lindsay Christians gave it a glowing review and wrote "But to compare Harvey House to a supper club arguably does both a disservice. This is a high-end restaurant with a supper club theme. The Harvey House makes a compelling case for why that's a very good thing." (The Cap Times) While we enjoy our pumpkin-themed beers and lattes, the animals over at Henry Vilas Zoo are getting some of their own "pumpkin enrichment" each weekend!
