Description
BROOKFIELD, WI — The Common Council will take up an ordinance with new boundaries of aldermanic districts Tuesday. A final vote is Oct. 19.
On Tuesday, "the proposed map will be introduced, and council may give feedback indicating if they find the map acceptable or would like to see any changes before the final decision on Oct. 19th," Alderman Brad Blumer told Patch.
The purpose of the redistricting is to reduce the number of wards from 25 to 21 to better manage Election Day at polling locations, according to city documents.
The proposed plan contains three wards at each of the seven polling locations and provides for a similar number of eligible voters inside each ward, the documents said.
The council will vote on the ordinance at its Oct. 19 meeting.
The timeline provides for the spring elections to be held within the new aldermanic boundaries.
