Beverly Woman Running 'Virtual' 2021 Boston Marathon Around City

BEVERLY, MA — As thousands of runners head to Hopkinton for the start of the 125th Boston Marathon Monday morning, Amanda Crowe will be resting up in her Beverly home after completing her own 26.2-mile trek through her hometown two days earlier. Crowe has run the Boston Marathon twice previously and has completed six marathons overall, with this year's effort being the race's "virtual" option amid the coronavirus crisis on Saturday amid the coronavirus health crisis. Crowe said she has mapped out a 4.5-mile course through Beverly that she will repeat six times to cover the marathon distance. "I hope to see some other runners out on Saturday," she told Patch. "It's mostly flat and very pretty and it's all sidewalks, which allows for safe running." She said she will be wearing the same singlet she wore during the 2018 Boston Marathon with the name of her sister, Lindsey, on the back. Crowe is raising money for Boston Children's Hospital in memory of Linsdey, who spent the last week of her life at the hospital before succumbing to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. "She and my family received outstanding support services," Crowe said. "I am honored and humbled to be running my fourth marathon for BCH and I am looking forward to Saturday."
