STAFFORD COUNTY, VA — Two men were arrested in Stafford County on Monday evening after a high-speed chase, according to the Stafford County Sheriff's Office. Authorities claimed the men fled from police after robbing a victim at knifepoint. The robbery was reported to police around 8 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 4. A victim told authorities that the robbery occurred at a home in the Villas at Falls Run. The sheriff's office claimed that the victim was attempting to purchase illicit drugs. While meeting in the victim's home, one of the suspects held a knife and demanded the victim's necklace and bracelet, police said. The suspects fled the area in a U-Haul moving truck, according to an update from the sheriff's office. One deputy in the area saw the vehicle while they were canvassing the area and attempted to make a traffic stop near the intersection of Enon Road and Jefferson Davis Highway. The truck did not stop, and instead began driving northbound on the southbound lanes of Jefferson Davis Highway, police said. "The suspects went back into the correct lanes near Centerport Parkway and continued northbound at speeds in excess of 80 mph with the deputy in pursuit," the sheriff's office said. One deputy deployed a spike strip near the Cavalier Skating Center, which deflated two of the U-Haul's tires. According to the sheriff's office, the drivers of the U-Haul drove through multiple red lights during the pursuit before it left the roadway and "teetered precariously in a ditch." At that point, the driver of the U-Haul began to flee the area on the foot, authorities said. The passenger began to open their door, but stopped when they saw a sheriff's office K-9. The passenger was then apprehended. The K-9 and his handler then tracked the driver through the woods along Pilot Knob Loop, the sheriff's office said. The deputy said they found some of the driver's clothes, including his shoes, in the woods. Witnesses near Pilot Knob Loop told the deputy that the driver had entered a home in the area. The sheriff's office later said that the driver "did not know the homeowner and entered through an unlocked door and begged the homeowner to help him." The sheriff's office said that when the homeowner tried to flee the home, the driver grabbed her arm to prevent her from leaving. She was able to escape and notify deputies who were in the area. The driver, who was later identified as Maxwell Pearsall of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, was taken into custody without further incident. He was charged with robbery, eluding, burglary, and assault. He is being held without bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail. The passenger was identified as Eddie Ingram, Jr. of Dumfries. He was charged with robbery. He is also being held without bond at the jail.
